Actor Akshay Kumar the 'No.1 Khiladi'

Akshay Kumar charges Rs 150 crore to host the second season of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’.

Akshay Kumar's career is going from strength to strength. After being touted as the highest paid actor in the Hindi film industry, these days Akshay is one of the most prominent faces on TV too. Akshay is in demand on the small screen after he hosted the first season of the reality show, Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi.

While the total deal amount for the first season was Rs 120 crore, Akshay is charging Rs 150 crore for the show's second season.
Our source says, "The first season of Khatron Ke Khiladi did very well and it was to a large extent responsible for launching the channel in a big way. The fact that the first season was successful has now prompted the channel to start the show's second season. Since the channel knows that Akshay Kumar is the USP of the show, his contract has now been reworked and he will be paid a whopping Rs 2 crore per episode. He was charging Rs 1.5 crore per episode during the first season. Akshay has also managed to get some equity in the channel. The number of episodes that he will shoot for the second season is yet to be finalised. The shoot of the show starts on April 2."

Hot Young Lady In Sexy Aunty’s Path

Riya Sen seems to be following Bipasha Basu’s and Mallika Sherawat’s footsteps as she too is all set to play a seductress in her forthcoming film Shaadi of the Dead. A unit member revealed, "Riya will be essaying the role of a seductress opposite Purab Kohli in this comic caper."

Seems like this Bong bombshell is going to set the screen on fire soon. We guess she has had enough of the deglam image while shooting for Rituparna Ghosh’s Bengali film. It’s time to return to reality and get into those glam shoes all over again, Riya.

Monica Bedi records

Monica Bedi, who made a comeback to the entertainment industry with a reality show last year, is working on Ek Onkaar - a spiritual offering for which Monica has recorded her voice. The album, a compilation of the revered mantra of the Sikhs called Mool Mantra, which is one of the holiest chants from the Guru Granth Saheb, will be released by Universal Music. It will be followed by 2 Pauris from Japji Saheb, which speaks about the universality of God and the strong belief in destiny as depicted by Sikhism.

The sound and mood of the album is attuned to listeners crossing all barriers of age and class. Says Monica, “This album is my homage to God who has helped me throughout the trials and tribulations of my life. People think of me as strong and brave but I was totally lost till I surrendered myself to Him and started praying and believing in Him. As they say faith can move mountains, which I have truly experienced. Hence with this album and a lot of guidance from Universal Music, I seek to reach this humble message across to everyone. I will be really honoured if through this small endeavour of life, people are inspired to have ultimate faith in the Almighty Lord.”

Rajeeta Hemwani, VP, A&R - Content, Universal Music says, “2009 will see a lot of pathbreaking releases on the Punjab front and as you can see we recently released the superhit album Indian Timing by Panjabi MC and launched a promising Punjabi star from Canada, Gurjit Rahal. Thus in the same vein but a different tune, we thought of endeavouring across genres and setting our foot firm into the spiritual realm. This would be Universal’s first major spiritual release of the year.”

The music of the album has been arranged by Anand Kurhekar of Inner Voice, who has provided a very world- ambient feel of sound design to the entire album. Inner Voice has been the production house behind many a fabulous albums in the spiritual spectra like Dances Of Shiva, Gayatri Mantra, Mandukaya Upanishad, Preachings Of Buddha and others

Pinki brings a smile to the Oscars

While all eyes seem to be on "Slumdog Millionaire" for the Oscars, the eyes of a very courageous little girl will be focused on another India based film at the ceremony.

It's called "Smile Pinki" and it's up for an Oscar too -- nominated for best short documentary.

The little girl watching it from inside the Oscar ceremony has traveled all the way from her small Indian village with her dad -- and it has been an incredible journey for little Pinki Sonkar.

"Smile Pinki" tells the story of her transformation from a sad outcast to a vibrant 8-year-old with plenty of spunk.

Pinki was born with a cleft lip and her impoverished family did not have the money for corrective surgery.

Like millions of other children born with the lip deformity in developing countries, Pinki simply had to live with it and suffer the social consequences.

Her father Rajendra Sonkar says: "She used to go to school and the kids would not befriend her. She would say I don't want to go to school."

"Pinki was a depressed, sad, lonely, shy, young little girl, growing up on the periphery of the society in a little village," said Satish Kalra, director of Smile Train's South Asian region, after meeting with Pinki.

The little girl's own family was ashamed of her Kalra says.

But all of that has changed. Pinki is now a real pistol, full of energy and confidence, and she has a fantastic smile too -- thanks to the Smile Train charity.

Smile Train teaches doctors in their own countries to operate on cleft lips, a deformity of up to four million children across the world.

Pinki just happened to be one of the chosen candidates for surgery and was also chosen to be the subject of the documentary.

The film chronicles Pinki's transformation, following her from her village to the hospital and home again.

The film's director is Megan Mylan. She has won several awards but not an Oscar. This is her big chance.

For Pinki and her dad, being able to see the film's director win an Oscar would be a thrill.

But they know they already have the greatest prize: Pinki's new smile.

"I am so happy that my daughter's lips have been repaired," her dad Rajendra said with a smile.

Jiah Khan To Do an Item Number in Yahoo

Jiah Khan's film Nishabd didn't have any scope for a hot sizzling number, neither did Jiah get an opportunity to shake her booty in Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini. Her desire to perform an item number in Bollywood is finally being fulfilled with the film Yahoo.

Jiah Khan will perform an item number for the Ken Ghosh film. The most interesting aspect about the item number is that Jiah will perform in a costume weighing 15 kg. Apparently the costume will have a lot of chains, which makes it weighty.

Sonam Kapoor is just a good bathroom singer

Beautiful babe Sonam Kapoor plays the role of an struggling singer in her forthcoming flick Delhi-6, however in real life Sonam insists that she is a bathroom singer.

She says, “I love music and I’m passionate about it. But I’m just a good bathroom singer, I’m not at all a competent singer.”

Well we just love Sonam as a Matakalli, she doesn’t need to impress us with her singing abilies.

Delhi goes crazy at Delhi 6 premiere

When you are expecting stars like Abhishekh Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor walk the red carpet to promote their latest film Delhi 6, there is bound to be chaos everywhere. Arriving two hours late, the two stars made a blink and you will miss appearance at a Gurgaon hotel and a multiplex in Saket, south Delhi.

Director speak

"When I made Rang de Basanti, I did not expect it to turn into an inspiration for youngsters. The same goes for Delhi 6," said director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Visibly excited over his mega venture, the director said that the film is about "seeing normal people on the screen". Veterans like Waheeda Rehman and Prem Chopra mingled freely with fans and media.

What's in a name?

Lots actually if you have one called 'Gobar'. Yes, this is exactly what Atul Kulkarni's character in the film is called. Seen in an all new look the actor exclaimed, "I had earlier shaved off my moustache only to realize later that Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra wanted me to keep them.

Finally, we zeroed down on this look which I guess looks rather interesting". Also seen with the cast was Kunal Kapoor, who does not star in the film but was there "to support Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and the entire cast". Meanwhile, Delhi girl Aditi Rao who looked smashing in a Red sari was more than relieved to have finally done a film in her "mother language" after her stint with Tollywood.

Delhi Connection

Sonam Kapoor, who seemed to have been inspired by Rekha's look gushed that Delhi is very close to her heart. "I have lived in Delhi for quite some time and I am a Delhiite in more ways than one.

Meanwhile, Abhishekh Bachchan who looked dapper in a black suit exclaimed that he plays a "New Yorker" in the film who comes to Delhi and "sees the tradition and culture". Anil Kapoor was also there to cheer daughter Sonam Kapoor. He, however, was too reclusive to talk to the media. Slumdog effect Anil?

Trisha has now come into the open and clarified that it is not a bikini but a swim suit she has worn and dropped all curtains.

However, she is said to have revealed to her friends that when she would reach her 30th year, she would opt for the bikini show. While it is not sure what the secret behind that is, it appears that Trisha's fans might have to wait for few more years to see their favorite star setting the screen on fire with her oomph.

MMS sex scandal in Noida

Five years after a sex clip made and circulated by a Delhi school student made news, a similar incident has been reported from a business school in Noida.

A student has sent out a video of his 23-year old girlfriend doing a striptease for him, to some fellow students at the management school. This reportedly happened after the woman refused to marry him. The woman studies at the same institution.

The story was first reported by Mid Day. It said the two students were probably classmates. The man, who apparently knew the password of the woman’s email ID, logged in to her mail and sent the video to some people on her contact list.

The Noida Police are yet to take any action in the matter because they have not received any complaint. “We’ve not received any complaint from the girl or her family or from the college,” says A.K. Tripathi, Noida’s superintendent of police (city). “But we, on our part, are investigating the matter. I’ve instructed the officer concerned to give me all the details about any developments in the case.”

The video shows the woman stripping to music; the man apparently captured it on a cellphone camera.

Women organisations have repeatedly expressed concern over the rising cases of sexually explicit MMS clips of students being put on websites or circulated among students.

“It is a matter of deep concern that school and college students are indulging in such deplorable activities and defaming their classmates by putting their obscene clips on websites or circulating it among other students,” said Raksha Shukla, a representative of the All India Women Conference. “The police should not wait for an official complaint from the victim. They should act at own level and punish the erring students so that others do not dare to do such acts.”

In 2004, a student of a south Delhi school had found herself at the centre of a similar scandal.

BSNL to Roll Out 3G by March

Will be the second telecom company to bring out 3G services in the country.

Going by reports in various leading publications, it looks like state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will roll out 3G services by the end of this fiscal.

After MTNL, the other state-owned telecom operator in India that rolled out 3G services in Delhi by the name of Jadoo, BSNL will be the second telecom company to bring out 3G services in the country.

However, two reports by different publications contradict telecom minister A. Raja's statements regarding when exactly BSNL will launch 3G services.

According to The Economic Times, Raja said that BSNL will bring out services starting with Chennai on February 23rd. However, a Reuters report states that BSNL would launch the service only by end of March.

Earlier, we had reported that BSNL has been gearing up to launch its 3G services in Jammu and Kashmir by March this year.

ET also reports that the 3G auctions will be conducted by end of March this year, as stated by the minister.

Release of Bodyguard Movie postponed

The release of director Siddhique's forthcoming Dileep-starrer Bodyguard (with lead lady Nayantara and actor-director-producer-stunt master Thyagarajan playing prominent roles in Malayalam after a long time) has been postponed due tothe shooting being incomplete even after the scheduled 55 days.

Sources say it will take another 25 days to complete the shooting, so the film is likely to be out in May. Earlier, Bodyguard was slated for a Vishu release (March 28, 2009).

Scripted by the director himself, Bodyguard revolves around young Jayakrishnan (Dileep), who has a very strange habit; he adulates anyone with a trace of heroism. Whenever he develops an admiration towards a person, he prefers to move with that person as a sort of bodyguard. He starts admiring Ashokan (Thyagarajan), a former liquor tycoon and leading businessman.

Jayakrishnan wants to be Ashokan's bodyguard, but Ashokan does not need a bodyguard. Later, when Jayakrishnan approaches Ashokan with a recommendation from someone he cannot refuse, Ashokan appoints Jayakrishnan as bodyguard for his daughter, Ammu (Nayantara). Interesting things happen when Jayakrishnan accompanies Ammu to her college. What follows next forms the rest of the plot.

Bodyguard is the first Siddique-directed film starring Dileep. The director says, "Bodyguard is a typical fun movie with lots of emotion and moves like a thriller. The film is being planned as a mass family entertainer like all my earlier films."

Also in the cast are Mithra, Undapakru, Janardhanan, Zeenat, Appahaja, Nandu, Seema G. Nair, Harisree Asokan, Anil Murali, Cochin Haneefa, Balachandran Chullikad and others. The film has five songs tuned by Ousepachan. Lyrics are by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, while Ananthakkuttan deals with cinematography.

Wrinkles And Pimples Together On Ileana's Face

A recent photograph of Ileana shows both pimples and wrinkles on her face at the same time. Now pimples are a sign of emerging youth and wrinkles are a sign of setting in worries.

What worries does this young lass have, in such a young age? No one knows the exact answer, but people close to the actress says that the actress is worried about the way competition is catching up, and she fears that the day is not far off when her top position would be toppled.

There is some reality in the worries which Ileana has, as actresses like Sheila, Hansika , Swetha Basu Prasad and Tamanaahh have been filling in fast and they are giving a tough fight to established actress like Ileana. But Ileana need not worry, she is young and she has a lot of future ahead of herself, she sure can bounce back with some good performances and prove her worth again. What say folks!!

Nude photo of Madonna auctioned for $37500 in NYC

The Material Girl has lost some of her glitter - at auction, anyway.

A full-frontal nude photo of a 20-year-old Madonna sold for just $37,500 Thursday, a sharp drop from the $96,000 auction record set in 2005 during flusher times.

The Lee Freidlander photograph was purchased by Italian businessman Fabrizio Masoni. He is the owner of a leather products company in Tuscany. The photo will be added to the company's art collection and be exhibited in its showroom.

On Thursday, Christie's had said that Friedlander's explicit black-and-white image of Madonna may have been the highest price ever paid at auction for a photograph of the singer.

But after further research, the auction house said Friday the record belonged to a print taken by fashion photographer Helmut Newton that sold for $96,000.

Bollywood song and dance Slumdog style

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ had interesting Bollywood style dancing in the film. The final scene was shot with the lead stars shaking their legs with a hoard of dancers supporting from behind.

The buzz is that the scene was shot with 300 dancers and the best thirty or so dancers dancing in front.

The hero of the film Dev Patel is of Indian origin but was not very comfy with Bollywood dancing. But Boyle is satisfied and is all praise for the choreographer as well as the dancers.

And most of all he admires the work of musician A. R. Rahman. In his words he’s a “serious superstar”.

He’s said, “If you can imagine Michael Jackson, Tom Cruise and Bruce Springsteen rolled into one, that’s this guy in terms of India. He’s called AR Rahman, a beautiful, modest man who is so famous it’s unbelievable.”

Well, Slumdog sure has taken Bollywood song and dance to another level altogether. -Sampurn Media

I'm not going to get a girlfriend: Shahid Kapoor

Always a charming young boy jostling for space in the middle of Bollywood heroes on the wrong side of forty, Shahid Kapur says that his friends have steadily dwindled over the years. "I have a handful of friends left and all of them are from outside the film industry. I am happy this way," Shahid says from Jaipur where he is shooting for a Yash Raj film with Rani Mukerji.

Also, the year-long relentless yarn spinning by the rumour mills seems to have taken its toll. "The way I am being projected as a serial dater, I am sure that I'm not going to get a girlfriend anytime soon," he quips.

But did he or did he not send a congratulatory message to Sania (Mirza) after her win at the Australian Open? "Isn't that a normal thing? The whole world congratulated her..." retorts Shahid. Sure, but the world hasn't been linked up with her!

Shahid admits that he seldom tries to clarify things. "I never ask whether you like it in the kitchen or in the bathroom. Then why do it to me? Don't other people go through break-ups? Or, for that matter, see another person afterwards? Is there anybody who has felt comfortable talking about it? If I want some personal space for myself, let me have it, nah?"

Shahid promises not to take up the pen (or the keyboard) to let people have a peek into his life. "Though my grandfather (Anwar Azeem) was a noted journalist and I remember spending a large part of my childhood at the Press Enclave in New Delhi, I probably will not join the blogger's club or for that matter declare that this is me on a social networking site."

His survival mantra is his never-give-up attitude. The flops, the actor says, are like hard knocks on the face. "It's like a boxing ring, you know. I have had more misses than hits but the fact is that I am still there, fighting. And trust me, I am going to fight till the very end!"

Crowds stop Kareena- Saif shoot

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan have become shoot-stoppers now! Everyone wants to see the hottest lovebirds in B-Town. Last week, when both were shooting for Rensil D' Silva's untitled debut film (produced by Karan Johar) in Delhi, a huge crowd kept gathering until the administration brought things under control. Says a unit member, "Last Sunday, when Saif and Kareena started shooting for Rensil's film at India Gate at 7 am, it was reasonably peaceful and empty.

But as word got around (and it being a holiday), a huge strong crowd gathered from the Rajpath right down to India Gate making it almost impossible for Saif and Kareena to shoot. Not many stars can shoot at Rajpath and India Gate, as it's a crowded place. Aamir Khan shot there during Rang De Basanti but even he didn't garner this huge a crowd! When Saif and Kareena turned up it was almost as if all of Delhi had turned up!

It was madness with the unit trying to control the crowd. Saif and Kareena couldn't step out as the crowd kept yelling and screaming." The source adds, "This was Saif and Kareena's first shoot at Rajpath and India Gate and even the crew wasn't expecting a mammoth turnout. The duo came on the sets at 7 am and gave a couple of shots after which the crowd got wind of what was going on and then shooting became impossible.

Line producer Mariket had to finally jump into the field along with the security guards and request the crowd to remain in control. After much persuasion, they managed to clear the masses and complete the shoot. Fortunately, the crowd wasn't unruly but very well-behaved." Saif says, "It's a public place and there are bound to be people. The crowds were very well behaved and treated us with respect.

I love shooting in Delhi as it has great hotels and great food. One can work in the day and relax at night. Delhi is a great place to stay for a short while." While Kareena adds, "Shooting in Delhi was nice but hectic and crowded with so many people consisting of the fans and paparazzi following us around."

Producer Karan Johar says, "A big crowd had collected at India Gate and Rajpath but eventually, we managed to complete the shoot. We had the required permits and adequate security who handled the situation extremely well. The shooting was bang in the middle of Rajpath but everything was well managed." Is Rensil's film called Jehaad?
