Bollywood actresses cherish the dream of being recognized in the International arena, and this time, the fantasy has come true for Kareena Kapoor. Unlike her predecessors, Kareena Kapoor has scored a mainstream Hollywood movie and is cast opposite Billy Zane of ‘Titanic’ and ‘Phatnom’ fame.

Daniel Silverman, who has worked as a film recorder for ‘The Devil wears Prada’ and ‘Perfect Strangers’ will be directing the movie which is tentatively titled ‘Chamera’.

Kareena was in Los Angeles shooting for ‘Kambhakt Ishq’ and she apparently hired an agent, who helped her bag this project. In ‘Chamera’, Kareena will be playing the role of an Asian girl and Billy Zane will be seen in the character of a tourist; based on insiders, the movie is scheduled to be shot in North India in just 30 days. Insiders further reveal that Kareena has been paid a stupendous amount to do the movie and that was one more reason for her to say a smiling, “Yes.”

So with ‘Chamera’, Bebo has bagged a perfect ‘Ticket to Hollywood’ coupled with an impressive ‘green-bills’ cushion which is sure making Bollywood babes go green.

Deepika tops Maxim Hot 100 girls list

Bollywood's new entrant Deepika Padukone, whose second film 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' is due for release Aug 15, is considered the hot favourite actress by Indian audiences across the globe. She tops the popular Maxim Hot 100 girls worldwide list.

The Maxim Hot list makes its debut in India and the 'Om Shanti Om' star, Deepika, is winner of the first edition.

'To be honest, personally I never thought of myself as 'sexy' or 'hot' but if that's the call that people have taken, then I hope I live up to it. I am so excited about this,' Deepika said in a press statement.

She joins the likes of previous Bollywood celebrity-winners like Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Karenna Kapoor.

'Deepika was our choice as the winner because apart from her huge fan following with the new generation of Indians, she also has the potential to be an international face. This calls for a huge party,' said Anup Kutty, editor of Maxim-India.

Deepika will be felicitated August end in Mumbai.

Mohanlal to work with Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan and Mohanlal will act together in a Japanese film called 'Nair San'. The film is to be directed by Albert, an alumnus of the Tamilnadu Film and Television Institute in Chennai and the shooting will begin shortly.

According to sources, the script revolves around a freedom fighter of Indian origin in Japan. Born to a Tamil father and a Malayalee mother, the protagonist grew up and fought for the Asia's freedom, particularly India.

Says Albert, 'Nair San was not hailed much in his own country but he is a revered icon in Japanese history and economy.'

The young director's debut film 'Kanne Madanguka' bagged three Kerala State awards and three debut directorial awards.

Santhi Srihari's brother Jayaram as hero

Santhi Srihari's second brother Jayaram is making debut as hero. S.Bhupati is producing this venture for Sridhan Media in the direction of A.L.Raja, who has 2 Tamil films to his credit. The film is officially launched today at Annapoorna studios.

Lakshana, a Mumbai native, is the heroine in this film. The film deals with the social issue of education turning into commercial modes and how the students, Government and the parents should act in their own way in this trend. Srihari attended the event as chief guest and switched on the camera.

This is not the debut film for Jayaram. He earlier played a role in Srihari's Sambayya. In fact, that is his debut film. And also, he played brother to Vijaya santhi in Indiramma. Ashish Vidyarthi, Bhanu Priya, Suman Shetty, Dhandapani, Karate Raja are confirmed in the cast. S.V.Sivaram will handle the camera while Srikanth Deva will compose music.

Manoj Kumar files case on Shah Rukh Khan

Om Shanti Om, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Arjun Rampal, produced and directed by Farah Khan under SRK’s Red Chillies banner was a runaway hit in 2007. The film was a spoof as well as a tribute to the Bollywood films of the 1970s.

In this film, there is a scene where SRK imitates certain mannerisms of Manoj Kumar, a top star of the 70s era.

The actor Manoj objected to those scenes and SRK and the film’s director tendered their apology. Manoj wanted those scenes to be deleted and that was not done. The film is off the theatre circuit and is now entering the TV media. Om Shanthi Om is due for telecast on Sony Max on August 10.

Therefore, Manoj Kumar filed a case in the Sessions Court against actor Shah Rukh Khan, producer and director Farah Khan and Sony Entertainment Television seeking to stay the telecast of the film

Mahesh Babu's tattoo on Swathi's shoulder

Colours Swathi is playing the female lead in the film 'Ashtachmma'. Indraganti Mohan Krishna is the director. Rammohan is the producer. Swathi plays the role of a die-hard Mahesh Babu fan and she even has a tattoo of Mahesh on her shoulders.

The producer thanked Mahesh Babu and Namratha for giving permission to use their names in the film. The audio has been released into the market by Big Music recently.

Cricketer Sidhu's debut movie to release in September

Cricketer, commentator, MP, comedy show judge and now an actor. Navjot Singh Sidhu will be seen on silver screen as he debuts in a Punjabi movie in September.

Sidhu's debut movie, 'Mera Pind' (My Home), in Punjabi will be releasing Sept 5.

In keeping with his political persona, his role in the movie is that of a do-gooder. He plays a non-resident Indian, who returns to India for good. He tries to uplift the village folks of Punjab, exhorting them to be entrepreneurs in their own homeland rather than aspiring to show off their entrepreneurship abroad.

'Mera Pind' has been directed by noted Bollywood cinematographer Manmohan Singh, who left Mumbai to make movies in his native state, Punjab.

Singh was cinematographer for most of Yash Raj Films productions, including 'Darr', 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', 'Dil To Pagal Hai' and 'Mohabbatein'.

Ever since he left Mumbai in the mid-1990s, he made seven movies in Punjabi.

Apart from being a director-cinematographer, Singh is also a very good singer, but he chose not to make a professional career out of it.

'I being a Punjabi can play the role I portray in `Mere Pind' more emphatically than anyone else,' Sidhu had said in his characteristic style at the launch of the movie in Chandigarh in February this year.

Before he agreed to do 'Mera Pind', Sidhu was offered a role in Akshay Kumar's forthcoming release 'Sing is Kinng' but he turned it down.

'But when Manmohanji offered me a role in `Mera Pind', I could not decline because I found my role to be very close to my heart,' Sidhu told the media at the movie's launch.

A Reliance Big Entertainment production, 'Mera Pind' has Harbhajan Mann and Kim Varma also in the cast and has music by Babloo Kumar.

BIG 92.7 FM's Harsha, Shruthi go to jail for a cause

BIG 92.7 FM Bangalore, the No 1 FM station in the city has yet again done what no other station in the city has dared to do. As part of a silent protest, the station’s popular breakfast jocks, RJs Harsha and Shruthi, were jailed at Forum Mall between August 2 and 3, 2008. Through this innovative ‘BailtheJock’ campaign, the station aimed to create awareness amongst the public on matters of environment cleanliness and personal hygiene.

Between July 7 and 19, BIG FM conducted a campaign that connected with their listeners and trashed out concerns faced by the common Bangalorean. Aptly titled ‘Bendethu Bengaluru’, this campaign addressed one major issue on air everyday.This gave an opportunity to the residents of the city to speak up and discuss common problems like potholes, bribery, traffic, public hygiene and the likes.

As a conclusion to this mega campaign, the breakfast jocks RJ Harsha & RJ Shruthi were taken in a ceremonious procession from the BIG FM office to Forum Mall at 9.27 am on August 2, and were subsequently locked up in a mock jail on the mall premises till the evening of August 3.

Celebrities like BhavanaRaoandNeetuof Galipata fame, LakshmiManmohan(playback singer) and V Manohar(actor, music director and lyricist) along with numerous fans visited the location to show their support and interact with the jailed RJs.

The RJs requested their listeners and audiences to come over to the mall and display their support of this public hygiene campaign by hitting punching bags, which symbolise the SusuUnclesandGarbageAuntiesof the city.

RJs Harsha and Shruthi needed to achieve a target of 927 punchesevery hour until they were bailed out on the August 3. Listeners, who are unable to personally visit the mall could sms ‘NOTHANKS’ to 55454 to show their support towards the cause. Regular updates of the event with photographs were also posted on the company’s website, blogs and social networking communities.

Namitha in 'Black Stallion' Malayalam Movie

After an intense waiting from her lakhs of fans in the state, Namitha, the glamour queen of the South is finally going to speak Malayalam on screen.

She will foray into Mollywood donning the female lead in the new film by Pramod Pappan titled 'Black Stallion'.

The movie will have Kalabhavan Mani in the lead with support from Bala in an important role. It is rumored that Namitha has been offered a twenty five lakh as remuneration, the highest ever for a Mollywood heroine, for her first outing in Mollywood.

The movie which is expected to start by the second week of October will be scripted by Rajesh Jayaraman. ‘Black Stallion’ will be produced by Jagadheesh Chandran in the banner of Kichu Films.

Hello! magazine paid a staggering £7.5million for the photos and they will be the most expensive baby pictures ever.

After a fierce contest between the celebrity magazines, Hello! outbid its rival OK! magazine for the rights to the pictures, and even brought its publication date forward to August 4 to capitalise on the coup.
But the babies have certainly been worth the wait - born to arguably Hollywood's most attractive couple, the twins were always going to be gorgeous.
Blessed with their mother's infamous large lips, just like their little sister Shiloh before them, these two are bound to be heartbreakers.
And nestling together with their parents - the photos couldn't paint a more perfect family picture.
In the magazine interview, Angelina says: 'It is chaos [at the sprawling Chateau Miraval in Provence] but we are managing it and having a wonderful time.'
Doting dad Brad, meanwhile, confides: 'Viv is proving to resemble Ange in spirit, attitude and physicality… And Knox, he's a bit of me.'

When Bips said no to a seducing scene

Bipasha Basu has done several bold scenes in her carrer so far.

So, it came as a big surprise when she was squeamish about doing an intimate Mrs Robinson-like seduction scene with Ranbir Kapoor in Yash Raj Films’ upcoming film Bachna Ae Haseeno , directed by Siddharth Anand.

Bipasha had to seduce Ranbir in a scene in the film, which is said to be loosely based on the Hollywood flick, The Graduate , directed by Mike Nichols (1967) and Alfie directed by Charles Shyer (2004).

While Anne Bancroft seduced Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate, Susan Sarandon seduced Jude Law in Alfi e. In Bachna Ae Haseeno , Bipasha plays Radhika, who has no apprehensions about anything and is ready go the extra mile for passion and Ranbir plays Raj, a Casanova.

Bipasha told Siddharth that she wouldn’t like to enact the seduction scene. Siddharth tried to argue with Bipasha, she refused to relent. Ultimately, the scene was not shot. A source says, “Bipasha wasn’t told about the scene when she had signed the film.”

When contacted, Siddharth said, “There is no such scene in Bachna Ae Haseeno . It’s a family film.” But, Bipasha said, “Aha... Well, I don’t wish to clarify or justify anything. If there is a story, which I’d like to talk about, I will do so. But this is not one of those stories.”
